We must be vigilant in our defense of the Second Amendment. Government does not have the authority to infringe on the people's right to bear arms because our Constitution grants every individual the right to personal protection.

As a lifelong hunter and lifetime endowment member of the NRA, I'm a staunch supporter of our Second Amendment rights. I'm proud to have consistently earned an A+ rating for my NRA support. As Attorney General, I've been able to help protect our right to bear arms by interpreting state reciprocity statutes for concealed carry as broadly as possible. In 2008, I joined an Amicus Brief in the case against Chicago's handgun ban which was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court. Ultimately, the Supreme Court agreed the handgun ban was unconstitutional.
The right to bear arms guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States of America should never be compromised.
